Child Allowance Payment Conditions and Amounts - TSV
Child allowance is a benefit provided to households raising children from age 0 through high school age (until the first March 31 after reaching age 18). The system was expanded in October 2024: income limits were abolished, eligibility was extended to high school students, and the payment amount for the third and subsequent children was increased to 30,000 yen per month. Benefits begin upon application to the local municipality and are paid 6 times per year (even-numbered months) covering 2 months each.
