GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) - Markdown

GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is the umbrella term for product identification codes defined by GS1 (Global Standards Organization). It includes four types: GTIN-13 (EAN-13/JAN standard), GTIN-8 (EAN-8/JAN short), GTIN-12 (UPC), and GTIN-14 (logistics/case level). GTINs are used to uniquely identify products throughout the global supply chain, from retail POS systems to warehouse inventory management. In Japan, GS1 Japan (Distribution Systems Research Institute) manages and assigns these codes.
