ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier) is an international standard identifier standardized as ISO 27729. It is a 16-digit identifier designed to uniquely identify persons and organizations involved in creative activities, including researchers, inventors, writers, artists, performers, publishers, and rights administrators. Its purpose is to resolve name ambiguity and facilitate search and discovery. It is a member of the family of international standard identifiers that includes DOI, ISBN, and ISSN. Managed by the ISNI International Agency (ISNI-IA), it currently holds over 16.5 million public records.
