Japan Standard Industrial Classification

The Japan Standard Industrial Classification is a statistical standard established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, systematically classifying all economic activities conducted at business establishments. Promulgated under Article 28 of the Statistics Act, it is widely used for industry-based tabulation in official statistics such as the national census and economic census. Based on the United Nations' International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC), it serves as an important foundation enabling international statistical comparisons.
