Types of Museums - CSV
Museums are classified according to their collection content and function. Major categories include history museums, art museums, science museums, natural history museums, and general museums, each collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and researching materials in specific fields. Internationally, standard classification systems exist through UNESCO and ISO, while Japan has a registration system based on the Museum Act. In recent years, new types of museums that transcend traditional classifications have emerged through the use of digital technology and the diversification of functions.
