ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a non-profit international identifier system designed to uniquely identify researchers and contributors, transparently and reliably connecting them with their contributions and affiliations. It provides a free, persistent 16-digit identifier that conforms to the ISO 27729 (ISNI) standard. The same identifier is used throughout a researcher's career, regardless of name changes, institutional moves, or field changes. Currently, over 1,500 organizations from more than 69 countries are members, with over 10.5 million active users worldwide.
