The United Nations Geoscheme (UN M49) is a standard area code system developed and maintained by the United Nations Statistics Division for statistical purposes. It classifies the world into 6 continental macro-regions and 22 geographical subregions, systematically organizing 248 countries and territories. Each region is assigned a three-digit numeric code, widely used in the preparation of international statistics and comparative analysis.
