Overview

Zodiac Signs

The twelve zodiac signs are a classification system established in Babylonia around the 5th century BCE, forming the foundation of astrology. The ecliptic (the Sun's apparent path) is divided into twelve equal parts, each assigned a constellation. The twelve signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign is associated with one of four elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) and one of three modalities (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable). These signs are still widely used in Western astrology, horoscopes, and personality analysis today.
