Kampo Medicines

Kampo medicine is a unique Japanese traditional medicine that originated from ancient Chinese medicine and developed to suit Japan's climate and culture. Currently, 148 prescriptions are covered by national health insurance as medical Kampo preparations, and 294 prescriptions are approved as over-the-counter Kampo preparations. Treatment is provided according to constitution and symptoms using prescriptions combining crude drugs.
