Overview

Types of Social Security Systems

Japan's social security systems are a set of programs designed to ensure the stability of people's lives and improve their welfare. Various systems have been established, including pension systems, health insurance systems, long-term care insurance systems, labor insurance (employment insurance and workers' accident compensation insurance), and public assistance systems. These systems serve as important mechanisms to support citizens at various stages of life, including securing livelihoods in old age, reducing the burden of medical expenses for illness or injury, providing support when long-term care is needed, offering benefits during unemployment, and providing relief during times of financial hardship.
